Aim Toothpaste

The theme for “Smile” was to create a campaign about a product that is used by all types of people for the same purpose. The tagline, “We all smile the same”, shows the audience that no matter who you are, where you come from, or what defines you, you can use Aim Toothpaste and feel united. Since everybody uses toothpaste and everybody smiles, Aim’s strategy is to show consumers that it is a product for anybody and everybody.

 

By creating an ad with not just one character or actor, but rather using multiple people, there is no one face that the consumer will associate with the brand. The memorable information in the ad is the product itself. Viewers of the ad will associate the brand with diversity and unity through the product.

 

The process of this ad consisted of finding ordinary students on JMU’s campus to record them smiling. The group also had friends and roommates star in the commercial for the video.

 

The ad introduces the idea of “We all start our mornings the same…” early on in the ad. That we the sense of unity is there right from the start and will resonate throughout the ad. The positive music and catchy beat will keep viewers interested in the ad while forming a positive attitude of Aim. By watching this ad the consumer will remember that Aim is for everyone and associate the brand with positivity.
