Royal British Legion
I created these posters on Adobe InDesign for the Royal British Legion while I was in London. The RBL is a charity that provides financial, social, and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces. When this project was given to me, the goal was to create a layout and design that is different from previous ones.
Ancient Grains
I created this campaign for a new gluten free pizza crust option at a JMU dining hall. I worked with students studying nutrition to create this. They gave me the information about the crust: it is a healthy, gluten-friendly alternative to other pizza crusts and is made out of ancient grains.

ABOUT ME.
First, I'd like to say thank you so much for visiting my page and wanting to learn more about me. My name is Mary Colleen Connelly, but I have always gone by "Colleen". My passion for design started back in high school. In 10th grade I enrolled in my first graphic design class and fell in love. When looking into college, I knew I wanted to continue in design but after taking marketing classes, I knew I wanted to be involved with advertising too.
Thats when I discovered James Madison University and their Media Arts & Design program. With a concentration in Creative Advertising I would be able to study everything I was interested in. I am originally from Albany, NY, so going to school in Virginia was a huge change-- but I was determined to get into the Media Arts & Design program. In addition to my major, I enrolled in an Art minor to improve my general art and design skills. Thanks to my Art minor, I feel like I have a ton of knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I believe this extensive knowledge sets me apart from my peers in Media Arts & Design who only know the basics of these programs. While at JMU I also acquired a minor in British Communication and Media. This stems from my semester spent in London.
While in London I was able to intern at Catapult: VCCP Media for an incredible graphic designer. This experience made me fall in love with the Media Arts & Design program once again. I took classes such as British Media and Society, British Media and Politics, and British Culture by Design. These classes sparked an interest in communications and a greater appreciation for culture. Going to London truly changed my life, and I miss it dearly everyday.
I graduated in May of 2019, and now I'm excited to work for a company that I'm passionate about and do everything in my power to provide exactly what they need from me. I've always been a fast learner, so I know that wherever I end up and whatever I end up doing, I will work hard to succeed and always do the best I can.
